About
What is The Event Guild?
A verified home for the people who build live events: florists, stage managers, designers, producers, lighting, audio, crew and every other craft. Talent builds a profile that shows their real, credited work. Production companies find people on the roster and message them directly.
Is it a union?
No. The Event Guild is a professional network and platform. It is not a labor union, a staffing agency, or an employer. It doesn’t bargain collectively, set rates, or represent members in employment matters. Joining doesn’t affect any union membership you already have.
Who runs it?
The Event Guild is run by . Every application is reviewed by hand by our team.
How much does it cost?
Membership is free. Building a profile, being on the roster, and messaging are free. We don’t take a cut of what you earn.
Producer tools that are still coming (the Bench Builder, Crew CRM, Job Board and Concierge) may be paid services when they launch. You’ll always know before anything costs money.
What’s a founding member?
The first members, invited while the roster is being assembled. Founding members carry a Founding seal on their profile, for good.
For talent
Who can join?
Individual event professionals, whatever your business form: sole proprietor, LLC, or one-person studio. What matters is that the work is yours.
Agencies listing other people’s work, and anyone brokering the people who did it, aren’t eligible. The standard: credit for the work you did, in the role you held, not the work you sold.
How do I apply?
Click Apply, create a free account, and work through five short steps: the basics, your crafts, your credits, the membership standard, and a final review. Your progress saves as you go, so you can stop and come back.
We review every application by hand, and you’ll get an email when your profile is live.
My role isn’t in the list. What do I do?
Add it. Live event work has thousands of titles, so every role is free entry. Type it exactly as you’d be credited, whether that’s RF Technician, Show Caller or Floral Mechanic. The chips are shortcuts, not the whole list.
What’s a credit, and what does “worked through” mean?
A credit is one event you worked: the event or venue, your role, the year, and an optional detail like guest count or scope. Your profile groups them by role, like a film credit list.
“Worked through” is the production company or client you were hired by, for example “Winter Gala, via Northside Productions”. Naming it is how honest event credits read, and it’s how we can verify your work.
What does “Verified” mean on a credit?
We’ve confirmed that credit with a source we trust, usually the production company you worked through. It’s added by our team, not by the member, and it stays on as long as the credit still says the same thing.
Can I edit my profile after it’s approved?
Yes, any time, from My profile. Your changes go live right away, with one exception: a new or changed confidential (sealed) credit waits for a quick review before it appears. The rest of your edit is live immediately.
Do I need a photo?
It’s optional, but a clear photo of you makes your profile much stronger. The site crops it to a square and removes hidden data such as GPS location before it’s saved.
How do producers contact me?
Through Messages on the site. They message you from your profile, you get an email letting you know, and you reply on the site. Your email address is never shown to them.
Am I an employee? What about W-2 work?
Members work as independent professionals. Bookings, rates and payment are between you and the producer, and you set your own terms.
When a job calls for W-2 employment, we can arrange it case by case, only when both you and the company agree to it. It’s handled directly by us, never through an outside staffing agency.
Confidential work
A lot of my work is under NDA. Can it still count?
Yes. That’s one of the main reasons The Event Guild exists. Mark a credit Sealed / under NDA and it counts toward your totals, while the public only sees your role, the year and your detail line (say, “Private celebration · 150 guests”). The event and client stay hidden.
Do I have to tell you who the client was?
No. For sealed credits the client and event are optional. Only name them if your NDA allows it; many don’t allow telling anyone, including us, and leaving it blank is completely fine.
Keep the detail line to things like region, size and scope, nothing that could identify the client, because that line is public.
What are the four disclosure levels?
- Fully credited: event, venue and who you worked through, all shown.
- Venue only: the venue shows; the client or production company stays private.
- Region and scale only: only your role and detail line show.
- Sealed / under NDA: only your role and detail line show, after a quick review.
Why are sealed credits reviewed?
To help catch accidental disclosure before it goes public, for example a detail line that gives the client away. We check what the public would see; we don’t need to know who the client was.
For producers
How do I find and contact people?
Browse the roster, open a profile to see their credited work, and click Request to book or Send a message. You’ll need a free account (just an email and password, no profile) so you can see replies. The member gets an email and answers on the site.
Is it free for producers?
Yes, today. Browsing the roster and messaging members are free. The producer tools coming next (the Bench Builder, Crew CRM, Job Board and Concierge) may be paid when they launch.
How are members vetted?
Every profile is reviewed by hand before it appears on the roster. Members confirm that every credit is work they personally did, in the role they named, and credits are named honestly, including who they worked through. Some credits carry a Verified mark where we’ve confirmed them.
How do rates work?
Members set their own rates and terms, and you agree them directly. We don’t set or recommend rates.
Can I hire a member as W-2?
Case by case. When a job calls for it, we can arrange W-2 employment, only when both the professional and your company agree. It’s handled directly by us, never through an outside staffing agency. Message the member, or email us to talk it through.
Can I see who’s available on my dates?
Not yet. Availability and the Bench Builder are coming soon. For now, message members directly to ask. You can see an example of the Bench Builder.
Privacy & safety
Who can see my email address?
Only our review team. It never appears on your profile or in messages.
Are messages private?
Yes. Messages are between you and the other person, and neither of you sees the other’s email address. If you report a conversation, our team will look into it.
Someone is bothering me. What can I do?
Open the conversation and click Block: they can no longer message you, and they aren’t told. Click Report to tell us what happened. You can see and undo blocks on your Account page.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account and use Delete my account. It permanently removes your sign-in, profile, credits and conversations right away. See the Privacy Policy for details.
