Terms of Use
The plain-language version: be honest about your work, be decent to each other, and understand that The Event Guild is a platform run by a company, not a union or an employer.
1. Who we are
The Event Guild is operated by (“we”, “us”). Contact: .
The Event Guild is not a labor union, a staffing agency, or an employer of its members. It does not bargain collectively, set wages or rates, or represent members in employment matters. It is a professional network and platform where independent event professionals present their work and where producers can find and contact them.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 18 and provide a real email address. You’re responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password private. One account per person. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms.
3. Member profiles and the credit standard
A member profile is for an individual professional: sole proprietor, LLC, or one-person studio. Agencies listing other people’s work, and anyone brokering the people who did the work, are not eligible.
By submitting a profile you confirm that:
- every credit is work you personally did, in the role you name, on a real event;
- credits are named honestly, including the production company or client you worked through where you are permitted to name them;
- you will keep confidential work sealed at the disclosure level you choose, and you will not name a client or event where a non-disclosure agreement prohibits it.
We review profiles before they appear on the roster and may decline, edit the public presentation of, or remove a profile at any time. “Verified” on a credit means we have confirmed it with a source we consider reliable; it is not a guarantee.
4. Confidential work
You are responsible for your own confidentiality obligations. Only share client or event details with us if your agreements allow it. Sealed credits show publicly only at the level you chose, and only after our review. We review sealed credits to help prevent accidental disclosure, but you remain responsible for what you submit.
5. Messaging
Messages are private between the two people in a conversation. We may review a conversation to investigate a report or prevent abuse. Names on messages are self-reported and not verified by us. You may block anyone; blocked people are not notified. You agree not to use messaging to send unsolicited advertising, to harass anyone, or to recruit members away from the platform to circumvent it.
6. Independent work, and W-2 arrangements
Members work as independent professionals, and any booking, contract, rate, or payment is between the member and the producer unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing. Where a job calls for W-2 employment, we may arrange it case by case, only when both the professional and the company agree, and handled directly by us, never through an outside staffing agency. Nothing on the platform creates an employment relationship between us and any member.
7. Rates
We do not set, recommend, or coordinate rates. Members set their own terms. Any rate information we may publish in future would be aggregated and anonymized, for information only.
8. Your content
You own what you post. You give us permission to display your profile and credits on the platform and in our materials that present the roster, and to use anonymized information to run and improve the platform. You can edit your profile at any time and delete your account from the Account page.
9. Acceptable use
Don’t misrepresent yourself or your work, impersonate anyone, scrape or bulk-collect data from the platform, attempt to access accounts or data that aren’t yours, or interfere with the service.
10. Producer tools
Some tools shown on the site are examples of features not yet available. We may add, change, or remove features, and may charge for some in future with notice.
11. Disclaimers and limits
The platform is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee the accuracy of profiles, the outcome of any introduction, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which may be nothing).
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (your content permissions for already-published material, disclaimers, limits) continue after termination.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with its date, and for significant changes we’ll notify account holders by email. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the new terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [County], California, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
